my rant for the day

When did liberal + progressive = unpatriotic + unAmerican?

Most of the liberal minded folk I know actually believe more strongly in the tenets of the Constitution (i.e. freedom and equality for all) than the conservative folk I've come across.

Just sayin'.

today, i had a throwdown with my g-pa. he was in town for the OU/Kansas game and had the audacity to move my Obama yard sign into my bushes because he didn't want his car associated with him. i noticed, moved it back and commented that he wasn't going to like the bumper sticker i'd plastered to his car. he then said i wouldn't like my smashed windshield. i said that was his problem since he owns the insurance company that insures my car. then my step g-ma piped up telling me that obama is muslim - she knows because she has missionary friends in indonesia who know him and he's not really from the US anyway, plus muslims only want to kill the infidels, she says, which are christian americans. i told her that unless she's an american indian and i never knew, she's not from here either. and that it doesn't matter if obama is a muslim or not, she condemns billions of people to eternal damnation because they don't accept jesus as their savior. then my g-pa told me it's really all about money, and that obama will raise his taxes. basically, i told him to kiss my ass. he wants me to pay his social security each month, but doesn't want to pay mine. that's a fine and honorable example for his supposedly superior generation to set. i want to respect my elders and all, but these two are just so wrong. needless to say, i don't think i'll be getting anymore free tickets to OU games this fall...

It's true! We're unpatriotic! We hate America! Ann Coulter said so!

It's weird, too, because I had no idea! I always thought I was, like, totally into the United States. But apparently not. Weird.
